Your smile is often the first thing people notice about you. And if you’re not smiling, what are others thinking? We want to make sure you can smile as big as you want or need to. To help improve the appearance of your teeth and gums, here are seven ways to get you the smile you have always wanted.

Laser whitening

Are you ready for a brighter, whiter smile? If you are, we have an option that is faster and easier with no sensitivity compared to other teeth whitening options. It is laser teeth whitening. Just as every smile is unique, so are the results of this treatment. While whitening varies from patient to patient, laser teeth whitening can help lighten teeth by even more shades, providing results in less than 20 minutes.

Bioclear

As you age, you might notice some unwelcome dark spaces appearing between your teeth. This can add an older appearance to your smile. These “dark triangles” can also collect food debris and plaque–we don’t want that. Dark spaces can also be the result of bone loss, recession of the gum line or movement of the teeth.

Fortunately, Bioclear can help. To treat those dark spaces in your teeth, Dr. Sara at Pinnacle Peak Family Dentistry is the only certified dentist in Scottsdale, Arizona who has completed all the training to use Bioclear to improve your smile.

Routine dental cleanings

It is important that you brush and floss your teeth twice a day. However, you should also visit your dentist twice a year for regular dental cleanings. This is because we have special tools designed to get into those hard-to-reach spots in your mouth.

We also check the health of your gums to make sure gum disease isn’t lurking around the corner. To put it simply: We can give you a more thorough cleaning that your teeth truly need. It will keep you smiling for longer.

Floss and brush

We have all been brushing and flossing our teeth for years. However, you might be surprised that you are not doing it properly. By ensuring you are brushing and flossing properly, you can improve your smile and the health of your teeth. Proper brushing takes at least two minutes, but most adults do not come close to that length. Remember to brush at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste for at least two minutes, especially first thing in the morning and before bedtime. It is also important to floss every day, typically at bedtime is often the best time.

Eat a healthy diet

To promote healthy teeth and gums, it is important to eat a variety of nutrient-rich foods from all the food groups. Look to a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, protein foods, calcium-rich foods and whole grains. These provide essential nutrients for optimum oral health as well as overall health. Calcium-rich foods include low-fat or fat-free milk, yogurt and cheese, fortified soy drinks and tofu, canned salmon, almonds and dark green leafy vegetables. Eat these foods to promote strong teeth and bones. Vitamin C also helps to promote gum health, so eat plenty of citrus fruits, tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, potatoes and spinach.

Crowns

Dental crowns are custom made for our patients, and are used for teeth that have been broken down too much for a composite filling to be able to help it. A crown is used as a full coverage type of protection for the tooth structure that remains. Crowns are available in porcelain, as to blend in with the patient’s natural tooth color and structure. We use a local lab that has been around for decades, and has always been a great partner in creating the best dental crowns for our patients.

Invisalign

It is never too late to straighten your teeth. With Invisalign, you can straighten your teeth without anyone even noticing you are undergoing treatment. That is because Invisalign is a clear, virtually invisible and comfortable alternative to braces. It makes it easy to straighten your teeth without bands, brackets or wires!

And because Invisalign is invisible and removable, you are able to brush and floss normally during your treatment. There is also no need to change your busy lifestyle because your Invisalign can be taken out as needed for presentations or going out to eat.
